No matter what area of life you want to achieve, it all starts with your ability to communicate and work with others. Find out how to charm everyone you meet with these three simple tactics.

People are always asking me particulars about their real estate… what markets are hot, how to perform deals, where to get financing, etc. While these questions are practical realities, there is a much greater truth that is happening behind the scenes. I’ll be honest with you, yes there are hot spots to invest than others, yes I do have a formula for how to evaluate property to determine my returns (and it’s foolproof) and yes there are ways to get financing for your deals, but it all starts with PEOPLE.

Who you are and how you view the world is in everything you do. No matter where you go or what business you are in, there you are. You have to learn how to cultivate the type of attitude that attracts success. I’ve worked alongside hundreds of people, and I’ve seen how the successful people gravitate towards a certain mindset, and it is more powerful than any other force. Since I’m a big fan of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, characters who embody the curiosity and will of successful thinking without trying to create an air of unnecessary complication, I’m basing these three rules in some of Twain’s infamous quotes.Bad

People often debate whether you can teach passion or not, given the general consensus that in order to be successful, you must have passion. There is no greater joy, than the chance you get to inspire others with that which you have that no one else does. It really doesn’t matter what resources you have or what your strengths and weaknesses are, what matters the most is who you are and what you offer others.

For myself, I’ve followed my own path into U.S. real estate before it became the ‘it’ thing it is today, and I’ve built a billion dollar portfolio doing it. I had the opportunity to create a system, work with brilliant mentors and now I have the opportunity to inspire others to do the same and to be part of that process.

To be honest with you, as a husband, a father and a businessman, I am constantly working with other inspiring people I meet to create and contribute what we have to offer. I put my heart into it, and I work at bettering myself every day. It’s all part of your mindset as an entrepreneur.

If timing is everything then all of time is now.

You can’t bank on having tomorrow or having all the circumstances be just right. That means, there is no obstacle that becomes my excuse. If you’re already talking about what you want to do, stop talking and take action. If you fail, you will just give yourself the chance to try again with a little more wisdom this time around.

It’s not really a question of having all the answers or finding the perfect moment, you need to seize the moment when you know what it is you really want to do and go for it – without being afraid or embarrassed. No guts, no glory. Try to lift all of your perceived limitations that you have and see only the opportunities and the path you take to get there.

Remember: one step at a time.

Unless you’ve had your head in the sand, you’ve likely heard the terms fear of failure or fear of success. These explain a common psychological anomaly of those intelligent, talented individuals who are NOT successful, who do not even try to be. It’s almost as though they do not want to be successful at all, but they still complain about not being successful.

I will say that those I have worked with who wanted to have all the answers, who diligently performed research and furiously took notes, probably have absorbed powerful information but at the end of the day, only action will separate you from the pack. That being said, it is fine to be fearful so long as you face your fears with courage. Face your fears, no matter how mundane they may seem to you, push yourself to face your fears and be honest with yourself, so you can experience the power of courage and know the power you have over fear.

If you learn how to cultivate a successful mindset, you will learn how to be successful no matter what the outcome. It gives you knowledge that is untouchable, invaluable and priceless.
