It’s Valentine’s Day – the perfect day to celebrate all the special people in your life. And while love lasts a lifetime, opportunity doesn’t. So in between the roses, the chocolates and the cards…don’t forget to think about how important it is to take care of those you love. I know for me, personally, one of the main driving forces behind my super achiever mentality, is and has always been, the amazing people in my life.  My 3 amazing children, my wonderful parents, spunky sister and my boys…these people in my life motivate me to do more, to be more and to come through.

It’s always been important to me to not just hold my own, but to be there for people around me, to help others achieve goals and to have the resources to lend a helping hand. That’s something I enjoy doing and there’s truly nothing better than being part of others success.

How Do You Help Others?

The first rule of helping others is to help yourself.

It may sound counter-intuitive, but if you want to be the rock for others, you have to be steady in life. I’m not saying you have to be millionaire, but you do have to follow-through on your goals and hold yourself accountable for your own success. Because when you learn how to take care of yourself  – your health, your wealth, your happiness and all that that encompasses – you will be able to help everyone you love and be open to letting them help you. And that’s why, it is important to understand the responsibility we all share – the social responsibility – to take care of our world.

All of my business ventures are social entrepreneurship endeavours…because I am not driven by money alone – it as a means to an end.

What is Social Entrepreneurship?

Social entrepreneurship describes business models that serve social needs and are successful profit-making businesses. It is possible and if you ask me, any business model that is based purely on money-making will not last in this day and age – at least they shouldn’t. I personally actively pursue business models that serve societal needs and make meaningful, positive contributions to the well-being of people’s lives. That’s why I invest in U.S. real estate and have been for years – it’s an amazing opportunity  AND it is crucial to the U.S. real estate market to have outside investments. That’s why I launched the North Dakota Housing Initiative that includes a 1600 unit lodge, a trucking company, a water waste facility and a master plan community – because the infrastructure there is a dire need AND a profitable opportunity. It is entirely possible to be a conscientious entrepreneur and it is the wave of the future.

Why Give?

The idea of giving, sharing and being socially responsible is something that is vitally important. It’s about a quality of life for all of us, and, anyone who is truly taking care of themselves is also taking care of others around them. You have to be open to giving and receiving in life…and the sooner you accept that, the more you will accomplish.

So, this Valentine’s Day…remember how important it is to incorporate love in all those aspects of your life!

And here’s a special shout-out to all those special people in my life – you inspire me every day.
